Perfecting Your Cross-Step Volley
\nThe cross-step volley is crucial for advancing your game. It combines precise footwork and strategic positioning. Follow these steps to master this skill:
\n- \n
- Start with Ready Stance: Be on the balls of your feet, knees slightly bent, paddle up and out in front. \n
- Identify the Approach: When anticipating a volley, decide early on which foot to lead with based on the side of your body the ball is targeting. \n
- Execute the Cross-Step: For forehand volleys, if the ball is coming to your right, step across with your left foot forming an ‘X’ shape in front. For backhand volleys, if it’s coming to your left, cross your right foot over. \n
- Maintain Paddle Position: Keep your paddle steady and slightly angled forward as you step across. \n
- Complete the Volley: Use a controlled swinging motion from your shoulder to meet the ball, ensuring a firm yet gentle hit. \n
Practice these moves and you'll see significant improvements in both agility and precision. Happy practicing!
